Freefall in Dhaka stocks continues

Rising inflation and economic challenges are hammering Dhaka stocks as indices continue to fall.
After two hours into the trade, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, DSEX, has decreased by over 31 points or 0.5 percent.
But at one point in time DSEX shed 87 points to 6,222 at 11-05 am indicating that the prime index could follow the previous two sessions’ big fall.
The Sariah-based DSES also went down by 4 points or 0.36 percent and the blue-chip DS-30 declined 17 points or 0.73 percent.
Beximco Limited, BATBC and Islami Bank were the top three index draggers in the market till filing the report at 12 o clock.
Over Tk 300 crore worth of shares transacted so far in DSE, where Shinepukur Ceramics, JHRML, Beximco Limited, BSC and Fuwang Ceramics were the top traded stocks.
Earlier, on Tuesday DSEX, the benchmark index of the bourse, went down over 93 points or 1.46 percent to settle the day at 6,309.
