The government has taken a step to export potatoes to ensure fair prices for growers, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said on Sunday.
The minister made the comment while distributing winter clothes among cold-hit poor at Kaunia upazila in Rangpur.
As newly-harvested potato has started to arrive in the market, its price has come down, Tipu Munshi said. “But we must make sure that the growers are not deprived of the fair price,” he added.
Replying to a question, the minister told journalists that the country’s trade will not be affected by the surge of coronavirus cases at the beginning of the year.
