Purchase committee nods waste-to energy plant proposal in Gazipur

The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has approved 17 procurement proposals, including the set-up of a waste-to-energy plant in Gazipur.
The approvals were given at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement held on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.
The 42.5 MW power plant will be set up in the Gazipur City Corporation area by the Chinese Canvas Environmental Investment Company at a cost of Tk 14,408 crore. This project will be implemented by the Bangladesh Power Development Board of the Power Division.
Among the other approved proposals, five were from the power division; four from the industry ministry; three from the agriculture ministry; two from the railways ministry, and one each from the ICT division, primary and mass education ministry, and the road transport and highways division.
The total cost for the purchase proposals is worth Tk 22,002,17,41,504.
Of this, 22,002 crore will come from government coffer while the remaining from domestic banks and the Asian Development Bank.
