Finance minister hints at fuel oil price hike

Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said the prices of the fuel oil will make upward adjustments when the ministry concerned places a proposal to this end for coping with increased fuel prices in the international market.
“We have already held three meetings with the ministry concerned to discuss the price hike of fuel oil in the international market,” the finance minister told journalists on Thursday, at his secretariat office.
He said he does not know the reasons for the price hike of fuel oil in the international market.
Prices of food stuff in the local market have increased due to their higher prices in the international market, he pointed out.
One barrel of petroleum is currently selling at $84.
One liter of diesel is selling at Tk 65 while octane at Tk 89 respectively, in the local market.
Fuel oil prices were last adjusted on January 4, 2013.
