Govt okays direct purchase of 50 jeeps for UNOs

The cabinet committee on economic affairs on Sunday approved procurement of 50 sports jeeps for upazila nirbahi officers though direct purchase method (DPM).

Officials said the government took the move as the condition of the presently-running old jeeps hinder smooth administrative and daily activities.

The government chose DPM given the urgency of the jeeps as open tender method (OTM) is time consuming, they said.

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport QX jeeps will be purchased from government-owned Pragati Industries Limited.
