LC opening time for 21 rice importers extended by one week

The government has extended the time for opening of letters of credit (LCs) by 21 rice importers by another week from September 27, 2021, the food ministry said in a letter issued on Monday.
The letter said importers have to submit relevant information, including port of entry to the food ministry immediately.
Earlier, the government allowed around 400 companies to import over 17 lakh tonnes of boiled and unboiled rice to tame the price of the key staple food in local markets.
