A daily four-hour shutdown of the country’s CNG refuelling stations begins on Sunday.

The government on Wednesday made the decision to increase gas supply for power generation.

Power, Energy and Mineral Resources ministry made the decision to keep the CNG stations shut from 6pm to 10pm daily.

Earlier on Monday, the state-owned Petrobangla made a decision to close the stations for six hours daily from Wednesday following a resolution made in a virtual meeting of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on July 19 this year.

The meeting was presided over by State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid and attended by the prime minister’s energy adviser.

But a few moment later, the ministry suspended the decision.

The CNG station owners on Tuesday opposed the idea of shutdown of the stations for six hours daily and requested the government to make it for three hours.

The government finally decided to shut down the CNG stations for four hours daily.
