Prices of chicken, salt, powdered milk shoot up

Prices of chicken, salt, powdered milk shoot up

The prices of chicken, salt and powdered milk increased in the market in a span of a week in the capital Dhaka.

The price of lentils imported from India has decreased compared to that of the previous week, besides the prices of other essential items remained unchanged.

While visiting different kitchen markets in Dhaka including Kawran Bazar, the correspondent found that per kilogram of cucumber was being sold at Tk 80, brinjal at Tk 60 to Tk 80 and per kilogram of tomato was being sold at Tk 120.

In Kawran Bazar retail kitchen market, per kilogram of lima bean is being sold at Tk 160 which was Tk 240 in the last week.

Per kilogram of bitter gourd is being sold at Tk 80 and per piece of pumpkin at Tk 50, per piece of bottle gourd, based on size, is being sold at Tk 60, per kilogram of sweet pumpkin at Tk 50, ridged gourd at Tk 60, pointed gourd at Tk 40, lady’s finger at Tk 60, potato at Tk 30 and per kilogram of papaya is being sold at Tk 40.

The price of green chili has decreased and it is being sold at Tk 120 per kilogram while per kilogram of dry chili is being sold at Tk 400 to Tk 450.

the price per kilogram of onion is now Tk 50 while per kilogram of onion imported from India is being sold at Tk 40 at Kawran Bazar kitchen market.

The price per kilogram of garlic stood at Tk 40 to Tk 45 and per kilogram of garlic imported from China is sold at Tk 145 to Tk 150. The price per kilogram of ginger is Tk 90 to Tk 110.

The price per kilogram of unpackaged sugar is now Tk 90 while the packaged is Tk 95 and at the same time, per kilogram of red sugar is being sold at Tk 100.

Per kilogram of local lentils is being sold at Tk 130 while the species imported from India is being sold at Tk 100 to T110.

Per kilogram of salt is being sold at Tk 38 to Tk 40 while it was Tk 35 and a packet of a half kilogram powdered milk is being sold at Tk 425 while it was Tk 400 in the last week.

The traders are seen selling per litre of edible oil at Tk 192 to Tk 195. The price per dozen of red eggs stands at Tk 120, duck eggs at Tk 180 and local chicken eggs at Tk 210.

A kilogram of beef is being sold at Tk 660 to Tk 680 and goat meat at Tk 900 at Kawran Bazar market.

The price of broiler chicken is seen at an increasing trend again as it is now being sold at Tk 170 to Tk 180 per kilogram which was Tk 160 a day ago.

The price of Sonali chicken (red chicken) has increased by Tk 20 per kilogram and now it is being sold at Tk 300 per kilogram while per kilogram of layer chicken is being sold at Tk 270 to Tk 280.
