The Commerce Minister of Bangladesh Tipu Munshi met the newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswami at the Secretariat on Thursday.

“India is a friendly nation to Bangladesh. The trade between the countries are increasing day by day. But there are some issues in exporting Bangladeshi products in India,” Tipu Munshi said, adding that he will discuss these issues with Indian High Commissioner to solve them.

“India has a huge market and we have lots of opportunities to export our products in that market,” he further said.

Tipu Munshi also talked about the border markets in India-Bangladesh border.

“These markets are getting more popular day by day. We hope to inaugurate three more border markets soon,” he said and hoped that this discussion will further increase the export of Bangladeshi product in India’s market.

During the 2019-2020 fiscal year, Bangladesh exported products worth $1096.36 million to India. The country imported products worth Tk5,773 million from India at the same time.

The minister believes that these huge differences between the trade volumes will reduce if the issues related to export gets resolved.
