Combined efforts of the E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (E-CAB) and postal department can help online businesses flourish in the rural area of the country, said Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar.
He made this remark while addressing a discussion meeting titled "E-Commerce for Living" organized by the e-CAB on Wednesday, on the occasion of E-commerce Day 2021.
Jabbar said that the e-Cab has a family of 1500 members.
"This expansion of e-commerce and the advancement of e-cab in such a short time has not been only for Covid-19. Various steps of the government and the continuous efforts of those who are leading E-Cab also get the credit," he said.
By using the country's largest postal chain for e-commerce, it is possible to expand the e-commerce network to the grassroots level, he added.
State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak said Bangladesh's e-commerce is now in the focus of the world as an example of growth.
"The three countries of the world have achieved economic growth during the Corona period. Bangladesh is one of them," he said.
"We have always had the support of the government. When the corona wave came for the second time, the government first declared the movement limited to 6 pm. We have now extended this time to 12 am (midnight).  In this way, we will be by the side of online entrepreneurs to serve the people," said Shami Kaiser, president of the E-CAB.
The organization’s Secretary-General Mohammad Abdul Waheed Tamal, Finance Secretary Abdul Haque Anu, Joint Secretary Nasima Akter Nisha, Director Zia Ashraf, Director Saeed Rahman, and General Manager Jahangir Alam Shovon were also present in the event among others.
