Remittance inflow sees 17.07% growth in Dec

Expatriate Bangladeshis sent a total of $1,989.87 million in remittances in December 2023, marking a significant increase of 17.06 percent compared to the same month in the previous year.
According to data of the central bank, the country received a total of $1,699.70 million from overseas workers in December 2023.
In the first half of the current 2023-24 fiscal year, expatriate Bangladeshis sent a total of $10,798.29 million in remittances, reflecting an increase from the $10,493.26 million recorded during the same period in the previous fiscal year.
Islami Bank facilitated the highest remittance inflow to the country, amounting to $634.37 million.
