Dhaka stocks plunge triggered by Russian attack on Ukraine

DSE indices on Thursday
Dhaka stocks tanked over 100 points on the news that Russia attacked Ukraine on Thursday.
DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) decreased by over 109 points or 1.57 percent to settle at 6,839.
Among other indices, the shariah-based DSES was down by 23 points or 1.52 percent and the blue-chip DS30 decreased by 35 points or 1.39 percent.
But the Dhaka stocks started trading with a positive note from the beginning on Thursday, in line with the previous session’s upward trend.
In the first 30 minutes into the trade, the benchmark index DSEX increased over 16 points or 0.24 percent.
But the upward trend diminished soon after the investors started to react negatively on the news that Russia launched attack on Ukraine.
