Dhaka sees 7 new Covid cases with zero death in last 24hrs

The health authorities recorded a total of seven new cases of coronavirus from Dhaka division in the last 24 hours till Monday morning.

However, no death caused by the virus was reported elsewhere in the country during the same period, said an official handout of the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) this afternoon.

The infection rate of the virus declined to 0.50 percent from yesterday’s 0.60 percent, said the DGHS.

With the updated data, the death toll from the virus remained static at 29,446 while the caseload rose to 20, 38,045.

The health department diagnosed a total of 1,409 samples at 885 government authorised laboratories in the country and found the four cases from Dhaka division during the same period.

Meanwhile, only one person was released from the virus-related illness, pushing the total number of recoveries to 20, 05,553.

The mortality and recovery rate of the virus remains static at 1.44 percent and 98.41 percent respectively.

Bangladesh registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28, 2022, and daily fatalities of 264 on August 10 in the same year.

Since the outbreak of the virus in Wuhan province in China in 2019, the health authorities in Bangladesh confirmed the first case on March 8, 2020, and the first death on March 18 of the same year.

Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, recorded 68, 32, 268 deaths caused by the virus so far and 68, 40, 83,987 cases worldwide.
