5 new Covid cases with zero death recorded in last 24hrs

The health authorities recorded a total of five new cases of coronavirus and zero death in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning.

The infection rate of the virus increased to 0.40 percent from yesterday’s 0.38 percent, said an official handout of the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) this afternoon.

With the updated data, the death toll from the virus remained static at 29,446 while the caseload rose to 20, 38,023.

The health department diagnosed three cases from Dhaka division and two cases from Rajshahi division after testing 1,243 samples during the same period.

Meanwhile, some 20 people were released from the virus-related illness, pushing the total number of recoveries to 20, 05,536.

The mortality rate of the virus remains static at 1.44 percent while the recovery rate declined to 98.41 percent from 98.47 percent.

Bangladesh registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28, 2022, and daily fatalities of 264 on August 10 in the same year.

Since the outbreak of the virus in Wuhan province in China in 2019, the health authorities in Bangladesh confirmed the first case on March 8, 2020, and the first death on March 18 of the same year.

Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, recorded 68, 29, 253 deaths caused by the virus so far and 68, 36, 44, 472 cases worldwide.
