12 new Covid cases in Dhaka, positivity rate 0.58% in last 24hrs

It is indeed a respite, as the health authorities recorded 12 new cases of coronavirus from different parts of the capital Dhaka with zero death in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning.
With the new infections, the national Covid-19 tally has risen to 20,37,600 while the death toll remained unchanged at 29,443, the data showed.
Earlier on Friday, a total of 10 coronavirus cases were recorded from the Dhaka division and no death caused by the virus was reported at the same time.
The daily case positivity rate stood at 0.58 down from yesterday’s 0.75 percent, after testing 2,061 samples at 884 government-authorised laboratories in the country during the period, said a handout of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Meanwhile, some 268 people were released from the virus-related illness at the same time taking the total number of recoveries to 19,93,968 as of Saturday.
The mortality rate of the virus remained static at 1.44 percent while the recovery rate rose to 97.86 percent which was 97.85 percent a day ago, said the DGHS.
Bangladesh registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28, 2022, and daily fatalities of 264 on August 10 in the same year.
Since the outbreak of the virus in Wuhan province in China in 2019, the health authorities in Bangladesh confirmed the first case on March 8, 2020, and the first death on March 18 of the same year.
Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, recorded 67, 70, 024 deaths so far caused by the virus and 67,60,20, 704 cases worldwide.
