11 Covid cases recorded in 24hrs, positivity rate 0.44%

Bangladesh health authorities recorded 11 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Monday morning, showing a downward trend in the infection rate of the virus compared to that of the previous day.

The daily case positivity rate stood at 0.44 percent down from yesterday’s 0.46 percent, after testing 2,474 samples at 884 government-authorised laboratories in the country during the period.

With the updated data, the death toll from the virus remained static at 29,442 while the caseload stood at 20, 37, 543, said a handout of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The mortality rate of the virus remained static at 1.44 percent while the recovery rate rose to 97.80 percent which was 97.79 percent a day ago, said the DGHS.

Meanwhile, some 247 persons recovered from the virus-related illness taking the total number of the recovery to 19, 92,694.

The health authorities detected 10 cases of the virus in Dhaka division and one on Chattogram division at the same time.

Bangladesh registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28, 2022 and daily fatalities of 264 on August 10 in the same year.

Since the outbreak of the virus in Wuhan province in China in 2019, the health authorities in Bangladesh confirmed the first case on March 8, 2020, and the first death on March 18 of the same year.

Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, recorded 67, 59, 674 deaths so far caused by the virus and 67,48,97, 313 cases worldwide.
