The coronavirus infection rose to 15.53 percent on Sunday, up by 2.31 percent from Saturday.

At the same time, two more people died by the virus while the number of infected people was 1,902 until 8am on Sunday, according to the regular handout from the Directorate General of Health Services.

So far, the number of the infected people stood at 1,978,689 and the the tally of the deceased stood at 29,162.

In the last 24 hours, 12,348 samples were collected from across the country, and 12,246 samples were tested.

Earlier on Saturday, six people died and the number of infected was 1,105. The rate of infection was 13.22 percent.

Meanwhile, 307 people have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours until 8aam Sunday, and so far, 1,908,297 people have recovered.

Among the deceased, one of them hailed from Dhaka division and the other one was from Chattogram division. Besides, one of the victims was male and the other one was female.

The virus was first detected on March 8 in 2020 in the county, and the first death was reported on March 18 of the same year.
