Covid infection rate jumps to 15.66%, cliams two more lives

The coronavirus infection rate jumped to 15.66 percent until 8am Sunday, while the virus also claimed two more lives at the same time. 

A total of 1,680 people were infected during the period and the tally of the infected stood at 1,965,173.

On the other part, the number of victims stood 29,140, according to the regular handout from the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday afternoon.    

Both of the deceased hailed from Dhaka – one of them was male, and the other was female.

Besides, 169 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours and the tally of recovered people is 1,906,688.

In the last 24 hours, 10,778 samples were collected from across the country, and 10,728 samples were tested

Earlier on Saturday, the infection rate was 15.07 percent, 2.89 percentage point up from Friday’s 12.18 percent. 

The virus was first detected on March 8 in 2020, and the first death was reported on March 18 of the same year.
