New sub-variant mutates 5 times faster than Omicron: Expert

The authorities of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JSTU) on Tuesday detected a new Omicron sub-variant named BA.4/5, which is 5 times more contagious than Omicron variant of coronavirus.
Both are male and one of them is now undergoing treatment at a hospital while another one at his house, said a press statement of the JSTU.
A team of researchers of the JSTU’s genome centre detected the variant after conducting a test on samples collected from the two persons, read the press release.
