Covid-19 infection rate jumps to 7.38%

Bangladesh logged 596 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours until 8am Sunday with 7.38 percent infection rate.

The daily case positivity rate declined to 5.94 percent on Saturday which was 6.27 percent on Friday. 

So far, the number of Covid-19 infected patients stood at 1,956,327.

However, no death was reported during the period. The tally of victims remained unchanged at 29,131, as per the regular handout of the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday afternoon.

Forty-nine people recovered from the virus during the same period and the number of recovery is 1,905,807 until Sunday.

In the last 24 hours, 8,191 samples were collected from across the country and 8,074 samples were tested.

The virus was first detected in the country on March 8 in 2020, and the first casualty was reported on March 18 of the same year.
