Bangladesh logged 29 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours until 8am on Sunday, while no death was reported at the same time.

So far, the number of Covid infected patients stood at 1,953,233 and the death rate at 29,128. Besides, 217 patients recovered from the virus in a span of 24 hours, while the tally of recovery was 1,900,964, according to the regular handout from the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday.

After collecting 3,824 samples across the country, 3,736 samples were tested, and the infection rate was 0.78 percent, up from 0.41 percent on Saturday.

Earlier on Saturday, one died from the virus after 29 straight deathless days while the number of fresh cases was 16.

The country registered the highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 last year, while the highest number of daily fatalities was 264 on August 10 last year.

Bangladesh reported the first case of Covid-19 on March 8 in 2020 and reported the first death after 10 days, on March 18 in the same year.
