Bangladesh reported 30 new coronavirus-related cases in the last 24 hours till Monday morning and no death for the last 19 straights days, according to the health department.

The daily positivity rate stood at 0.44 percent which was 0.41 percent on Sunday and 0.38 percent on Saturday, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in a handout this afternoon.

The health authority counted four cases of the virus with 0.18 percent infection rate on Thursday which is the lowest since the virus spread out in Bangladesh in 2020.

With the latest data, the caseload reached 19,52,829 and with no new death reported during the period, the country’s total fatalities remained unchanged at 29,127.

The fatality rate also remained unchanged at 1.49 percent while the recovery rate rose to 97.18 percent which was 97.17 percent a day ago.

The new cases were detected after testing 7,413 samples at 879 government authorised laboratories in the country.

Meanwhile, the health authorities declared 272 patients free from the infection, taking the total number of recovery to 18,97,798.

The country reported its first zero Covid-related death in a single day on November 20 last year, along with 178 infections.

On January 28, Bangladesh registered its previous highest daily positivity rate at 33.37 percent reporting 15,440 cases and 20 deaths.

The country registered the highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 last year, while the highest number of daily fatalities was 264 on August 10 last year.

Since the outbreak of the virus at Wuhan province in China in 2019, the health authorities in Bangladesh confirmed the first case on March 8, 2020 and the first death on March 18 in the same year.

Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, has so far recorded 62, 76, 658 deaths so far caused by the virus and 51, 73, 70, 745 cases worldwide.
