The government will issue instruction over operating all public and private offices with 50 percent staff in a bid to prevent the spike of coronavirus cases across the country, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Friday.

The health minister came up with the remark while addressing a press briefing.

“Decision has been taken in this regard, and the official notification will be issued soon,” said the minister.

Meanwhile, the cabinet issued a gazette on Friday saying all the educational institutions will be closed until February 6 for the uptrend of coronavirus cases across the country.

As per the gazette, not more than 100 people will be allowed to participate in any types of social, political, religious or government events. Further, the participants must have their covid vaccine certificates and RT-PCR negative certificates.

RT-PCR test should be done 24 hours before attending the event.

Earlier on Thursday, the country logged 10,888 fresh coronavirus cases, while the positivity rate rose to 26.37 percent.
