Despite a decline in the number of daily death count, the country witnessed a surge in the number of infection on Thursday.

The country logged 10,888 fresh cases in the past 24 hours, while four people died being infected by the deadly virus, according to the press briefing by the health directorate.

The current infection rate is 26.37% after testing 40,898 samples across the country. However, the identification rate was 25.11% on Wednesday.

So far, 28,180 people died across the country being infected by the virus while the number of infected people is 1,653,182.

Among the deceased, one of them is male and three others are female. Two of them died in Dhaka and two others in Chattogram.

The first cases of coronavirus were reported in the country on March 8 in 2020, and the first death was reported on March 18 of the same year.
