7 new cases of Omicron in Bangladesh

Seven more people were infected by the Omicron variant of coronavirus. With this, the number of Omicron infected people in Bangladesh is 62, according to the data updated on Wednesday by Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data – GSAID.

As per the GSAID, the rate of Omicron infection in Bangladesh is 73.6 percent in the last four weeks.

Until January 16, the number of Omicron infected patients was 55 in the country.

The government officially informed about the cases on December 11 last year when two women cricketers returning from Zimbabwe were infected by the variant.

Later on December 27, the variant was found in one person, four were identified on December 28, three were identified on December 31, 10 were identified on January 6, one was identified on January 7, nine were identified on January 10 and three were identified on January 12 – according to the information of GSAID website.
