Bangladesh reports highest daily Covid cases in 145 days

Bangladesh recorded 5,222 fresh cases of coronavirus and eight more deaths in the last 24 hours until Sunday morning.

The rate of infection stood at 17.82 percent after testing 29,305 samples from across the country.

Bangladesh witnessed the highest daily infection count on August 24 last year when the tally was 5,249.

So far, 28,144 people have died being infected by the deadly virus, while the number of infected people stood at 1,617,711, according to the regular press briefing of the health directorate on Sunday.

Earlier on Saturday, seven people died and 3,447 people tested positive for the virus; and the rate of infection was 14.35 percent.
