The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has called upon authorities to provide it with lists of school children aged between 12 and 17 years in capital Dhaka to bring them under the inoculation programme.

The DSHE also asked the authorities to put forward the list through [email protected] email address by October 19.

Around 40,000 children aged between 12 and 17 years will be given Pfizer vaccine every day from October 30, based on the list, a source at the DSHE said.

In the first phase, around 6,15,000 children in the capital Dhaka will be vaccinated, the source said.

At least 200 booths will be set up on the premises of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre to conduct the vaccination drive in a hassle-free manner, according to the source.

Earlier on Thursday, the government began a trial vaccination campaign for the students in Manikganj area.

ABM Khurshid Alam, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), has said after the vaccination, they will observe the side effects of the vaccinated children for 10 to 14 days.

After successful completion of the trial run, he said they will go for a vaccination programme for the school students in Dhaka on a large scale in connivance with the health and education ministries and other concerned departments.
