8 new Covid cases with no death recorded in last 24hrs

The health authorities recorded eight more new coronavirus cases without any death in the last 24 hours till Friday morning, showing an increasing trend in the infection rate of the virus compared to that of the previous day.

With the updated data, the death toll of the virus remained static at 29,445 while the caseload rose to 20,37,738, said the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) in a handout on Friday afternoon.

The health department diagnosed the new cases after testing 1,201 samples at 884 government-authorised laboratories during the same period across the country, said the DGHS.

Meanwhile, some 327 people were released from the virus-related illness, pushing the total number of recoveries to 19,98,775.

The mortality rate of the virus remained unchanged at 1.45 percent while the recovery rate climbed to 98.09 percent which was 98.07 percent a day ago.

Besides, a total of seven cases were recorded from Dhaka division while one case was recorded from Rajshahi division during the same period.

Bangladesh registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28, 2022, and daily fatalities of 264 on August 10 in the same year.

Since the outbreak of the virus in Wuhan province in China in 2019, the health authorities in Bangladesh confirmed the first case on March 8, 2020, and the first death on March 18 of the same year.

Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, recorded 67, 87, 832 deaths caused by the virus so far and 67,82,87, 674 cases worldwide.
