Nagad receives huge responses in Covid test fee collection

Postal Department’s mobile financial service Nagad has received a huge response in collecting Covid-19 test fee in different centres in Dhaka Chattogram and Noakhali.

It is the only mobile banking that is providing the service to make the payment hassle-free without any public-gathering, said a release.

The service also discourages the use of printed notes, helping limit the spread of the virus, it added.

“From the very beginning, we are devoted to working with the government to tackle the pandemic,” Managing Director of Nagad Tanvir A Mishuk said.

“This service is part of that process. We are always working for the country and the people. And we are the only operator that has rolled out this service so far,” he added.

“As we believe that ‘if people survive, the country will survive’, we have stood by the government and the people in this process of paying the fee for the Covid-19 test through the contactless transaction. This will keep the country and the people of the country safe,” Mishuk further said.

In a joint initiative with the health and family welfare ministry, Nagad has been providing the opportunity to the people to avail the Covid-19 test and make payment through mobile banking.

The service of Nagad, which started earlier August last year, is so far available in Dhaka, Chattogram and Noakhali, the release said.

Customers can pay Tk100 as a Covid-19 test fee through Nagad’s bill pay option.

Foreign travellers can secure the test for Tk1,500. However, the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) smart card-holders can get the service at a payment of Tk300, reads the release.

In both cases, one per cent of the payment will be charged automatically for the service.

To pay the charge on the Nagad Android app, users will have to log in to the app and click on the Bill Pay option. They have to select the booth and then click on the MOHFW COVID19 TEST text icon.

Overseas travellers have to click on MOHFW Overseas Traveler COVID19 TEST. After typing the PIN, customers would have to tap and hold it to carry out the transaction. They will receive a confirmation SMS.

For Apple or IOS users, after logging on to the app, they have to click on the Bill Pay option, select the booth and click on MOHFW COVID19 TEST text icon.

Similarly, overseas travellers have to click on MOHFW Overseas Traveler COVID19 TEST. The customer needs to type the amount (300/1,500), the PIN and then tap and hold on. Customers will receive a confirmation SMS.

For the payment through USSD, after dialling *167#, customers have to select the Bill Pay by pressing 5 from the menu.

Customers will need to select the Covid-19 Sample Collection Fee from the biller list. They will type the amount (100/1,500) and the PIN. They will receive a confirmation SMS, the release reads.
