Moon earns double crown in table tennis at BSJA Sports Carnival

Fazle Rabbi Moon of Dhaka Tribune secured a double crown in the table tennis competition on the first day of the Walton-BSJA Sports Carnival 2024, which commenced at the Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association (BSJA) office premises on Tuesday.

The week-long festival, organized by the BSJA and sponsored by Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, was inaugurated by Walton Senior Executive Director FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Don.

National table tennis coach Mohammad Ali and former national women's champion Sonam Sultana Soma graced the event as special guests.

Moon claimed the singles title by defeating Mazharul Islam of Independent Television in the final and later teamed up with Jotirmoy Mondal to win the doubles title, beating the pair of Mazharul Islam and Tayeb Ananta in the final.

The call bridge competition is set for Wednesday at the BSJA office. The week-long festival includes seven sports disciplines: badminton, chess, shooting, swimming, call bridge, carom (singles and doubles), and table tennis (singles and doubles), exclusively for BSJA members.

Shooting will take place at the Hockey Stadium, badminton at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium, swimming at the Ivy Rahman Swimming Pool, while table tennis, carom, chess, and call bridge will be held at the BSJA office, located at the Bangabandhu National Stadium premises.
