Walton, a prominent player in Bangladesh's capital market for electronics, has proudly clinched the 'National Export Trophy' for its remarkable role in boosting the export of electrical and electronics products during the financial year 2020-2021.
The accolade was bestowed upon 73 esteemed companies, including Walton, at a ceremony held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital Dhaka on Wednesday (November 8).
The prestigious trophy was presented by Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Accepting the honor on behalf of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC’s Chairman, S M Shamsul Alam and its Additional Managing Director (AMD) S M Shoyeb Hossain Nobel received the 'National Export Trophy' from the commerce minister.
Dignitaries, including Export Promotion Bureau’s Vice Chairman AHM Ahsan and FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam attended the event as special guests while Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh presided over the ceremony.
Expressing his elation, Walton's AMD S M Shoyeb Hossain Nobel highlighted the transformation brought about by Walton in the domestic electrical and electronics market.
Formerly import-oriented, Walton has revolutionized the landscape by manufacturing and marketing international standard electrical, electronics, home, and kitchen appliances within Bangladesh.
Securing a lion's share of the domestic market, Walton has also contributed significantly to the country's foreign currency earnings by exporting 'Made in Bangladesh' labeled products to over 40 countries across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and America.
This recognition through the 'National Export Trophy' further enhances Bangladesh's global standing.
Nobel held the opportunity to call upon relevant authorities to consider providing special incentives for the export of electrical and electronics products.
He expressed optimism that such incentives would propel the sector's annual export earnings to reach around $ 2 billion.
