65 organisations receive ICMAB best corporate awards

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) has awarded 65 organisations for good corporate performance in 2021.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, as the chief guest, handed over the awards to the winners while Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam and FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin, among others, were present at the event.

The annual Best Corporate Award is given based on the review of the contestant entities’ corporate governance and other qualitative and quantitative information published in respective annual reports.

The ICMAB, at its flagship event organised at a hotel in the capital on December 1, honored the organizations divided into 17 categories after reviewing their performances based on the annual reports.

The 17 categories were Nationalized Commercial Bank, Private Commercial Bank, Private Commercial Bank (Islamic Operation), Non-bank Financial Institution, General Insurance, Life Insurance, Pharmaceuticals, Cement, Textile, Multinational Company, Others Manufacturing, Power Generation, Oil, Gas & Energy, NGO, Agro and Food Processing, Trading & Assembly and IT & Telecommunication.

In the nationalised commercial bank category Janata Bank won gold, Sonali Bank, silver and Rupali Bank won the bronze awards.

In the private commercial bank category, BRAC Bank won gold award, Dutch-Bangla Bank & Trust Bank Limited jointly won silver and Eastern Bank and The City Bank jointly won bronze awards.

In the private commercial bank (Islamic operation) category, Shahjalal Islami Bank won gold award) Islami Bank Bangladesh silver and Global Islami Bank and Export Import Bank of Bangladesh jointly won bronze awards.

In the non-bank financial institutions category, IPDC Finance won gold, IDLC Finance silver and Delta Brac Housing Finance Corp PLC and LankaBangla Finance jointly won bronze awards.

In the general insurance category, Green Delta Insurance Company won gold award, Sadharan Bima Corporation won silver and Nitol Insurance and Asia Insurance jointly won bronze awards.

In the life insurance category, Sandhani Life Insurance Company won gold award, Pragati Life Insurance silver and National Life Insurance Company and Popular Life Insurance Company jointly won bronze awards.

In the pharmaceuticals manufacturing category Square Pharmaceuticals won gold award, Renata silver and Orion Pharma and ACI jointly won bronze awards.

In the cement manufacturing category, Premier Cement Mills PLC won gold, M.I. Cement Factory silver and Confidence Cement and Heidelberg Cement Bangladesh jointly won bronze awards.

In the textile manufacturing category, Paramount Textile PLC won gold, Square Textiles silver and Esquire Knit Composite and Matin Spinning Mills PLC jointly won bronze.

In the MNC manufacturing category, British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company and Marico Bangladesh jointly won gold awards, Reckitt Benckiser Bangladesh PLC silver and Berger Paints Bangladesh won bronze award.

In the other manufacturing category, Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills won gold award, RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh) silver and GPH Ispat Ltd and BBS Cables jointly won bronze awards.

In the power generation, transmission and distribution category, Summit Power won gold, United Power Generation and Distribution jointly won silver and Doreen Power Generations and Systems and Baraka Power jointly won bronze awards.

In the oil, gas and energy category, Linde Bangladesh won gold, Meghna Petroleum won silver and MJL Bangladesh won bronze awards.

In the NGO category, BRAC won gold, Action Aid-Bangladesh silver and SAJIDA Foundation and UCEP Bangladesh jointly won bronze awards.

In the agro and food processing category, Olympic Industries won gold, Agricultural Marketing Company and Index Agro Industries jointly won silver and Apex Foods won bronze awards.

In the trading and assembly category, Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC won gold, Runner Automobiles PLC 2nd silver and Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company won (bronze awards.

In the IT and telecommunication category Grameenphone won gold, Robi Axiata silver and Bdcom Online bronze awards.
