ICSB observes National Mourning Day

Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) observed the 47th Martyrdom Anniversary of Bangabandhu and the National Mourning day through various programs on August 15 in presence of Dhaka Regional Chapter (DRC) subcommittee of ICSB council members, students and officers of the institute.

ICSB Secretary & CEO Md Zakir Hossain, Chairman of DRC Md Zahangir Alam Manik FCS, and Council members along with other ICSB members and officials were present in the National Flag (half-mast) hoisting ceremony and doa mahfil in the morning.

AKM Ali Ahad Khan, additional secretary of the Ministry of Commerce attended the discussion programme on the life of Bangabandhu. Participants discussed and recalled the contribution of Bangabandhu in the reconstruction and development of post-independent Bangladesh.

ICSB President Muzaffar Ahmed, in his speech, recalled the contribution of Father of the Nation in both pre-and post-liberation periods through his charismatic leadership, love and affection for the people of the country and his lifelong sacrifice for this nation.

Ahmed termed Bangabandhu as a “Philosopher of Life”.

Immediate past president of ICSB Mohammad Sanaullah FCS remembered Bangabandhu and his martyr family member and later thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League government for passing Chartered Secretaries Act-2010 in his speech.

In his speech, the chief Guest AKM Ali Ahad Khan mentioned the charismatic leadership of Bangabandhu and the way Bangabandhu declared independence in his 7th March speech and urged all to support Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her way to building ‘the Golden Bengal’ dreamt by Bangabandhu.

Among others, Salim Ahmed FCS, treasurer, Md Sharif Hasan FCS, council member, Md Ahasan Habib ACS, Tanvir Ahmed Siddiqui ACS, Nayamul Hoque FCS, Mst Afroza Sultana gave their valuable speech.

Later an art competition for children of the members was organised.

The main programme ended with special prayers offered for the eternal peace and Almighty Allah's mercy of the souls of Bangabandhu and his martyr family members.

Jasmin Akter FCS, chief executive, Jasmin & Associates delivered vote of thanks to everyone present at the end.
