The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has recognised BRAC Bank as one of the top taxpayers in Bangladesh in the fiscal year (FY) 2021-22.

The recognition came following BRAC Bank’s becoming one of the top five income taxpayers under the Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU), said a press release.

Shaheen Akhter, member, Tax Admin; formally handed over a crest and a certificate to Mohammad Abdul Ohab Miah FCA, financial controller of BRAC Bank, at a ceremony at NBR Office in Dhaka on August 2.

Md Iqbal Hossain, tax commissioner of LTU and other high officials of NBR were present. Syed Bashir Ali FCA, head of Regulatory Reporting and Taxation, BRAC Bank, were also present.

As a values-based bank, tax compliance is embedded in the value system of the bank. As a member of LTU, BRAC Bank has long been making a substantial contribution to the government exchequer, playing a catalytic role in national development.

Commenting on the recognition, Selim RF Hussain, managing director and CEO, BRAC Bank, said, “Good governance, compliance, ethics and transparency are the pillars of our business model. Tax compliance has been one of our major goals as we strictly ensure local and international accounting standards.”

“We aim to become a standard bearer in tax compliance in the country. We thank NBR for recognising BRAC Bank with this prestigious honour,” he added.
