Selim RF Hussain reappointed as BRAC Bank MD and CEO

BRAC Bank Ltd has reappointed Selim RF Hussain as the company’s Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Hussain’s new tenure will be effective from November 2021 to March 2026, said a press release.

The chairman and board of directors of the bank reappointed Hussain with the approval of the central bank.

Hussain began his journey at BRAC Bank in November 2015 and has since served two three-year terms with the bank.

During his six-year tenure, Hussain led BRAC Bank from mid-table to the pinnacle of the local banking industry and has firmly established BRAC Bank as a leading financial institution in Bangladesh.

Reacting to his reappointment, Hussain said, “I would like to thank the Chairman and Board of Directors of BRAC Bank for honouring me with this reappointment. I am absolutely delighted to be able to continue my journey with the talented and committed BRAC Bank team.”

He also added, “Together, we are determined to take BRAC Bank to the next level in terms of market share, while continuing to progress the financial inclusion and values-based development agenda of our founding Chairperson, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, KCMG.”

Hussain has an Honours degree in accounting from Dhaka University (DU) and an MBA (major in Finance) from the same university’s Institute of Business Administration.

He had worked in various roles with the two largest multi-national banks in Bangladesh, ANZ Grindlays Bank, and Standard Chartered Bank, for twenty-four years, before moving to the IDLC Group in 2010. Hussain led IDLC Finance for six years before moving to BRAC Bank in 2015.
