Beximco, K2 Logistics sign production and quality consultation agreement

Beximco Health and K2 Logistics Bangladesh Limited have agreed to work on production and quality consultation.

The signing ceremony, held on Wednesday was attended by Naoki Ito, the ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh.

The ceremony, hosted by Beximco Group Chairman, ASF Rahman, Beximco Group Director & CEO Syed Naved Husain, and Dr Mohidus Samad Khan, executive director of Beximco PPE Ltd, said a press release.

Tetsuro Kano, GM of Itochu Dhaka Office and President of Japanese Association; Hikaru Kawai, GM of Marubeni Dhaka Office and President of Japanese Commerce and Industry Association of Dhaka; Yuho Hayakawa, Chief Representative of JICA Bangladesh Office, Yuji Ando; Chief Representative of JETRO Dhaka Office; Dr Moazzem Hussain, Advisor of K2 Logistics Bangladesh Limited; Ryoma Mitani, Executive Director of Ken2 Japan, Toshihide Yuda, COO of K2 Logistics Bangladesh Ltd were present at the event.

The ceremony was attended virtually by Salman F Rahman, Private Industry and Investment Adviser to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and a member of the Jatiya Sangsad.

A series of speeches were made by Syed Naved Husain, Naoki Ito Ambassador of Japan, A S F Rahman and the other VIP guests, highlighting the importance of Japanese expertise in professional-level inspection and quality control techniques which are of extreme importance in PPE/medical supply chains.

The ambassador was overwhelmed by visiting the first South Asian vertical Beximco Health PPE Industrial Park where they are producing various PPE fabrics.

These include melt-blown, laminations, isolation and surgical gowns, surgical masks, N95 cup type and foldable type masks, KN95, FFP1, FFP2 masks, shoe covers, head covers and ETO sterilization facilities.

The sewing facilities for the gowns and coveralls are in a fully pharmaceutical “clean-room” environment.

They also visited Intertek (a 130-year-old leader in Testing).

Intertek and Beximco have developed a PPE Center of Excellence at Beximco health PPE Industrial Park, an advanced PPE lab capable of testing all levels to comply with the United States, European Union and the United Kingdom standards.

After the signing ceremony, the ambassador moved to Beximco Industrial Park where he visited Beximco Industrial Park.

The ambassador was very impressed to see Beximco’s fully vertical state of the art textiles, garment manufacturing, and world largest modern sustainable washing plant.

At the Beximco Industrial Park, the ambassador also inaugurated the startup and launch of Tsudakoma looms, sizing machine and warping Machine which Beximco has sourced from Japan, financed by JICA.
