IPDC Finance Limited has brought back its interest-free book loan titled Subodh to promote creative reading among the youth. Anyone can avail the loan to buy books until April 14 this year.
Last year, it rolls out the scheme at Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2020 held at Bangla Academy premises, said a press release.
This year, IPDC moved the service online due to the current Covid situation.
The lender this time has collaborated with the popular e-commerce platform for books, Rokomari.com, to help customers access the bookstore without physically having to go to the book fair, reads the release.
“IPDC has brought this offer to inspire the youth to read more books. The habit of reading among the new generation is a must to build an intellectually capable leadership for future Bangladesh. We hope Subodh will give a chance to everyone to read books of their interests and sharpen their power of imagination,” said Mominul Islam, managing director and CEO of IPDC.
“Book is the most effective medium to enlighten minds. IPDC Shubodh will play a huge role to encourage the habit of reading. We believe, with such effort, someday all the people in Bangladesh from any part of the country will have books at their hand,” said Mahmudul Hasan Sohag, the chairman of Onnorokom Group, a business that owns Rokomari.
There is a menu option named ‘IPDC Shubodh’ on the homepage of Rokomari.com website. From there a visitor can apply for loan and purchase books with Shubodh loan upon confirmation from IPDC, the release mentions.
This initiative aims to mitigate the hindrance that booklovers might face financially and encourage the habit of reading books with its tagline “Notun Boi-er Ghran-e, Subodh Jaguk Pran-e”, it added.
One can avail a loan of up to Tk 3,000 and pay back via three installments. The applicants must be at least 18 years old Bangladeshi citizen. All they need to submit are images of National ID Card, student ID or professional ID and a photo of the applicant.
