Discussants at a post-budget meeting said the country needs an inclusive development budget in the face of rising inflation.

On Saturday, a newly established organisation called 'Center for Inclusive Development Dialogue (CIDD)' organised the meeting on the proposed 2022-23 budget at a local club in Dhaka.

The chief guest of the function was Planning Minister MA Mannan, said a press release.

Syed Nuruddin Ahmed, managing trustee of the organisation in his welcome address highlighted the ideals and objectives of CIDD and called for an inclusive development.

CIDD Secretary General and Southeast University Vice Chancellor, Dr AFM Mafizul Islam in his keynote address said, in the next 2022-23 financial year, it is clear that in the fiscal year 2022-23, there could be a sharp rise in inflation.

Dr Islam also made some recommendations for the next budget.

He further said that the biggest good news of the forthcoming 2022-23 budget is that after a lot of scrutinises, a new universal pension system will be added to the budget.

He said that for the introduction of the pension scheme, there was a need to increase revenue, for which Bangladesh would have to move forward with a "slow-moving" policy.

Dr Islam said that the government can do another great work, that is unemployment allowance.

Finally, Dr Islam said the need for an inclusive budget for economic development is undeniable.
