After a four-day break on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha and weekly holidays, banks and financial institutions in Bangladesh will open on Sunday, on a limited scale, amid a fresh lockdown.

All banks will operate on a limited scale between July 25 and August 5 -- from 10:00am to 1:30pm instead of normal 10:00am to 4:00pm, maintaining health guidelines, said a circular of Bangladesh Bank.

However, banks can remain open till 3:00pm to conduct their internal activities under post-customer hours.

Their other regular activities can also continue in compliance with the government guidelines.

During this period, the head offices and authorised dealer-designated branches of all the banks will remain open and that each of the state-owned banks will keep one of their branches in the district headquarters and one at upazila headquarters open, across the country.

However, said the circular, private banks will keep open one branch in the district proper and a maximum of two branches outside districts with limited manpower.

However, internet banking service will continue to operate for 24 hours across the country.
