Abu Farah Md Naser, executive director of Bangladesh Bank, who was on a post retirement leave, has been appointed as a deputy governor on condition of suspending his PLR, according to a notice issued by the finance ministry on Sunday.

The contractual appointments will remain valid until Abu Farah reaches the age of 62 years. He will be 62 years old on February 23, 2024.

A senior BB official said that Naser will join as the deputy governor on Monday.

Earlier, the BB had three permanent posts for deputy governors, which were increased to four in 2019. The fourth post was created on a condition that one deputy governor will be appointed from scheduled banks.

Three other deputy governors are: Ahmed Jamal, Kazi Sayedur Rahman and AKM Sajedur Rahman Khan. Of them, Sajedur was appointed from a scheduled bank.
