BB extends time for sending outward remittances for study abroad

Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Wednesday extended the time allowing sending outward remittances for study abroad under online teaching arrangements till March 31, 2022.

The BB extended the period for another two semesters or sessions subject to observance of usual regulatory instructions.

The validity of the authorisation was up to September 30 starting from April 2021 amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“It is observed that Bangladeshi students are still studying under online teaching arrangements from Bangladesh due to travel restrictions imposed by some foreign governments for ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Due to the current situation, it has been decided that Authorized Dealers (Ads) may continue to effect outward remittances on account of study abroad under online teaching arrangements for another two semesters or sessions subject to observance of usual regulatory instructions,” said a BB circular issued on Wednesday.

The facility will remain effective till March 31, 2022, the circular added.
