19 more dengue patients die, 3,033 hospitalised in 24hrs

A total of 19 more dengue patients died and 3,033 were admitted to different hospitals in the country during the last 24 hours till 8 am on Monday.
With the fresh 19 deaths, this year’s total casualties from the disease rose to 928 and total cases climbed to 1,90,758 as of Monday, according to a handout of the Directorate General Health Service (DGHS).
During the 24 hours period, nine patients died while undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Dhaka and 10 outside it, according to the handout.
Meanwhile, a total of 3,033 patients were hospitalised across the country and of them 801 in the capital Dhaka and 2,232 outside it.
A total of 10,147 dengue patients are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals. Of them, 3,622 are in Dhaka while 6,525 are outside of the capital.
On September 20, Bangladesh witnessed 21 dengue deaths, the highest in a single day this year and it also saw the same highest figure on September 2.
The death toll from dengue infection crossed the 800-mark as the authorities recorded 893 dengue deaths between January 1 this year and September 21.
With the new cases, the total number of patients rose to 1, 90,758 said the statement, adding that some 1, 79,683 patients were released from different hospitals out of the total patients.
The authorities have recorded the highest number of dengue cases outside Dhaka in August this year, meaning the mosquito disease gripped the entire country.
August witnessed 71,976 dengue cases, the highest in a single month since the dengue outbreak began in 2000 in the country.
July alone recorded 43,854 dengue cases with 204 deaths, the DGHS statement read.
