Bangladesh’s target to emerge as a developed nation by 2041 may be foiled if the country plunges into a middle-income trap.
Prime Minister's Adviser Salman F Rahman said this while addressing a function in the capital Dhaka on Tuesday.
He also underscored the need to encourage investment in the country to address the challenges. “We will have to do a lot to ease doing business here,” he said.
Citing the country’s 15 years of achievement earned by the prudent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Rahman said the government has intensified its collective efforts to avert the challenges of the middle-income trap.
“If we are plunged into the middle-income trap, then we will not be able to become a developed nation by 2041,” said the private sector adviser of the prime minister.
