12 dengue patients die, 2,823 hospitalised in 24hrs

The health authorities recorded 12 more deaths from dengue and 2,823 new related cases during the last 24 hours till 8 am on Monday.
On September 2, Bangladesh witnessed 21 dengue-related deaths, the highest number in a single day this year.
This year’s death toll from dengue stood at 646, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a press statement this afternoon.
During the period, 1005 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka while 1,818 were admitted to different hospitals outside Dhaka, said the DGHS.
With the new cases, the total number of patients rose to 1,33,134. Besides, some 1,23,419 patients were released from different hospitals this year.
"A total of 9,069 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals. Of them, 4,052 are in Dhaka while 5,017 are outside of the capital city.
The authorities have recorded the highest number of dengue positive cases outside Dhaka in August this year meaning the mosquito disease gripped the entire country.
August witnessed 71,976 dengue positive cases, the highest cases in a single month since dengue outbreak began in 2000 in the country while 342 dengue-related deaths were reported in the current month, the DGHS statement said.
