Dengue claims 8 more lives, infects 2,331 in last 24hrs

The health authorities recorded eight more deaths from dengue and 2,331 related cases in the last 24 hours till Monday morning, according to the health department.

With the updated data, this year’s deaths from dengue rose to 556 so far, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in a handout this afternoon.

Besides, with the fresh 2,331 cases, the total number of dengue cases mounted to 1,16,842, said the DGHS.

the deceased, six died while undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the capital Dhaka while two died outside it.

A total of 918 dengue cases were diagnosed in Dhaka while 1,413 cases outside it.

At present, 8,212 patients including 3,913 in the capital Dhaka are undergoing treatment at different hospitals across the country.

Meanwhile, the health authorities recorded 1,08,074 recoveries in the current year.

The country also recorded 281 deaths from dengue in 2022 and 179 deaths in 2019.

The health department also recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries in the last year.
