Dengue death toll crosses 500 mark as 13 die in 24hrs

The health authorities recorded 13 more deaths from dengue in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning, pushing this year’s death toll to 506 so far.

A total of 2,070 new patients were hospitalised across the country during the same period, said a handout of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the new patients, 857 were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka and the rest 1,213 outside it, according to the DGHS.

A total of 7,825 dengue patients, including 3,580 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.

So far, the DGHS has recorded 10,6,429 dengue cases and 98,098 recoveries this year.

The country recorded 281 deaths from dengue in 2022 and 179 deaths in 2019.

The health department also recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries in the last year.
