Govt to procure 12,500 tonnes of sugar for TCB sale

The government has approved the procurement of 12,500 tonnes of sugar for open truck sales of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) for low-income people.
The approval came at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase on Thursday. The proposal was placed by the commerce ministry.
JMI Export and Import Company will import the sugar from Brazil and supply it to TCB, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Syed Mahmud Khan told the media.
The sugar will be purchased at $524 per tonne. The total cost of import of sugar is estimated at Tk 65.98 crore or $6,5,52,625.
