The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has directed mobile operators to compensate customers in case of a call drop.

The directive will come into effect from October 1, according to a press conference at the BTRC office on Monday.

With this, customers will get compensation if there is a call drop while being in a call with the same operator on both sides.

At the conference, the Director General of BTRC’s Systems and Services Division Brigadier General Md Nasim Parvez informed that customers will get 30 seconds back for the first two call drops and 40 seconds for the third to the seventh.

The returned talk time can be used from the next day and the customer's money can’t be deducted until this talk time is over.

The customer will have to be informed about the compensation for the call drop within the next 24 hours through SMS and the duration of the call drop refunded talk time will be 15 days.

Furthermore, from October customers of any operator will be able to learn the number of their call drops using the code *121*765#.

Currently, Grameenphone compensates its customers for every third call drop, Robi for the seventh, and Banglalink for the second and sixth.
