State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Monday put emphasize on global efforts to ensure the cyber security, saying that it's impossible for any single country to face the increasing cyber threats.
"It's not possible by any single country to ensure cyber security. Effective steps should be taken collectively through inter-country communications in this regard," he said at a press conference at ICT Tower in the city's Agargaon area.
Digital Security Agency of the ICT Division organized the press conference on 'emerging cyber threats at the national level in the global economic unstable situation' at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Auditorium at ICT Tower, said a press release, reports BSS.
Palak said that the BGD e-GOV CIRT of the ICT Division is working to ensure the country's cyber security and informing about the possible risk of global cyber attack along with showing ways of being protected from that risk.
Due to undertaking various effective measures, he said, the country is moving ahead in the global index of cyber security.
But the recent activities of hackers are a matter of concern that might put banking and public and private financial institutions along with power supply and transmission lines at risk, the state minister said.
Four prerequisites- creating awareness at individual level, providing education at family and institutional level, building technological capacity and applying existing laws strictly- should be ensured for keeping the cyberspace safe, he added.
Presided over by Senior Secretary of the ICT Division NM Zeaul Alam, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Vice-Chairman Subrata Roy Maitra, Digital Security Agency Director General Md Khairul Amin and BGD e-GOV CIRT Director Tarique M Barkatullah, among others, spoke at the press conference.
