Vehicular movement on Padma Bridge by June, iterates Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday reiterated that the Padma Bridge would be opened for vehicular movement by June 2022.

He was speaking at a review meeting on the progress of the Padma Multiple Bridge Project at the Bridge Division conference room in Dhaka.

Quader, also the Awami League General Secretary, said about 97 percent work of the main bridge has already been completed, while 90.5 percent of the river engineering work of the bridge project has been completed and 65.68 percent of carpeting work of main bridge done.

He said the overall progress of the project is around 92 percent.

Besides, the minister said the gas line installation work has been completed by 99 percent, while 400 KVA power line installation work by 79 percent. 

Chaired by Bridge Division Secretary Md Monjur Hossain, the meeting was attended, among others, by Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam and project director Md Shafiqul Islam.
